Due to the creation of an exciting new division Alpha Manufacturing are looking for precision stainless steel fabricators to join our team.
You will be responsible for joining metal parts, filling seams and holes of metal components, working to sketches and specifications, inspecting equipment and structures, following and maintaining knowledge of safety protocol.
Stainless Steel Fabricator Job Duties:
Using TIG Welding equipment to produce heat and solder together components made from various metals, predominantly stainless steel.
Welding various material thickness parts
Consulting blueprints and sketches in order to execute jobs and tasks to specification
Assessing equipment, structures, materials, and job specifications for appropriate welding positions and methods
Monitoring equipment for appropriate usage and temperature
Maintaining a thorough knowledge of universal standards and specifications in order to meet building codes and legal requirements
Developing working knowledge of dozens of methods used for welding a variety of materials and components
Trimming metal components using heat, fire, and electricity
Monitoring work environment for hazards and maintains healthy ventilation levels to avoid particle or gas inhalation
Follows safety protocol, including wearing heat-resistant gloves, protective masks, and safety shoes
Works in the construction or manufacturing industries
Stainless Steel Fabricator Skills and Qualifications:
Formal Training Through a Vocational or Technical School
Relevant Fabricator or Welding Fabricator Certifications
Ability to Read Blueprints
Basic Computer Knowledge

Alpha Apprentices on the Road for 2020 Recruitment Drive
Current apprentices from Alpha Manufacturing and Bri-Stor Systems have begun the process of recruiting the next generation of young engineers to join the apprenticeship in 2020.
The 1st year apprentices will be accompanying apprenticeship manager Will Davies Hill as he visits various local schools to introduce them to the Bri-Stor Group. Presenting to year 11 students, they will discuss their experiences during their first year, covering training, projects, events and their studies so far.
This gives students who may currently be considering their post-high school options a unique insight into life at Alpha from an apprentice’s perspective. It also clearly shows the path for career progression with examples of past apprentices who now have important full-time roles within the business.
Over the next few months, Will and his young colleagues will visit as many of the local schools as possible, encouraging students to visit the annual apprentice open evening in February and to apply once applications open in the new year.
Group EHS Manager
We are looking to strengthen our Team with the recruitment of a Group Environmental, Health & Safety Manager.
The Bri-Stor Group consists of Bri-Stor Systems Ltd, Alpha Manufacturing Ltd & Atlas Coatings Ltd and we are based in Hixon, Staffordshire. We are a privately owned business employing approx 400 people across the group, making us one of the largest employers in the region.
Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be responsible for the implementation of robust systems, ensuring compliance and conformance to EHS Policies and Management Systems whilst growing and supporting a strong EHS culture.
Health, Safety & Environmental Policies and Procedures are produced & communicated to all levels of the business.
Assist in the development and implementation of Safe Systems of Work.
Periodically review and revise the Health, Safety & Environmental Policy documentation such that it reflects the views and needs of the organisation.
Assist management in the implementation of the Health, Safety & Environmental policy.
Advise on preventive actions on Health, Safety & Environmental matters, based on the correct implementation of current Health, Safety & Environmental legislation, approved code of practice and supporting risk assessments.
Monitor and record all accident reports, investigate where necessary and analyse statistical data for control purposes.
Submit relevant performance and statistical information to the Group Directors.
Liaise and consult with external agencies on matters of Health, Safety & Environmental and Welfare.
Provide co-ordination and leadership regarding risk strategies to ensure continual development of risk management activities.
Monitor and review arrangements for business continuity to ensure procedures, when implemented, achieve the intended objectives.
Provide Health, Safety & Environmental instructions to all levels of the business during business introductions.
The Planning and Co-ordination of Statutory Examinations
Monthly Health, Safety & Environmental committee meetings are held and documented.
Identify training needs and advise management accordingly and where practicable, provide training to support the Health, Safety & Environmental needs of the business.
Develop and maintain systems to enable easy access to records and information related directly to the Health, Safety & Environmental management system.
Emergency response procedures and responsibilities are communicated to all interested parties including external bodies.
Occupational Health Surveillance is provided for those identified through a risk assessment, advise the management team of specific requirements and promote advice to employees on how to maintain their health and wellbeing.
Audits are planned and carried out to meet the business operations and legislative requirements.
Ensure ongoing ISO 18001 / 14001 accreditation.
The ability to build credible relationships with internal and external stakeholders and to truly engage your community to embrace EH & S in all they undertake.
Your key experience will include implementing EHS programmes, undertaking audits, accident investigation and identifying corrective actions.
Knowledge of ISO systems and their implementation.
NEBOSH Certificate/ NEBSOH Diploma Equivalent.
Lead Auditor Qualifications desirable.
CNC Punch Operative
Due to recent expansion of our punch department capabilities, we require a CNC punch operator to work within an experienced team working with Trumpf punching machinery.
Operate CNC punch machines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Working from technical drawings and dimensional specifications punching sheet metal parts as instructed by supervisors. This position may include all or some of the duties and responsibilities listed below.
CNC Punch Operator Job Duties:
Operate CNC Turret Punches used in the production process
Set up tooling, load programs and set machine parameters to ensure optimal performance of the equipment.
Maintain punches and dies as needed.
Work in a fast-paced environment with fast changing priorities.
Keep work area clean and organized.
Follow all safety rules and quality standards.
Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency.
CNC Punch Operator Skills:
Knowledge of Pullmax & Trumpf machinery (preferable but not essential)
Solid background working with sheet metal.
Knowledge of tooling and tool maintenance.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to multitask and prioritize in an effective way.
Flexible schedule is required; this position requires shift work as well as some weekend work.
Strong team work skills, good communication and reliability.
Ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision while meeting all product quality requirements.
Weld Quality Inspector
Due to recent increases in demand, we are recruiting for a Weld inspector to join our expanding quality team. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, diligent and committed to ensuring that the highest quality standards are maintained.
Responsible for the quality inspection of welded components and assemblies and confirming conformity to engineering drawings. Inspection criteria includes visual weld quality, dimensions and locations and part dimensions
Liaise and work with supervisors and management teams regarding process and product improvements
Identifying non-conformities and understanding the root cause
Be able to develop and communicate preventative measures and rework procedures
Complete and maintain any relevant inspection / quality documentation
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
Familiar with engineering drawing weld details and symbols
Familiar with MIG welding principles and methods
Use of measurement tools
Experience of working in sub-contract manufacturing environment
Experience of sheet metal manufacture and fabrication
