Eaton Hall Shooting Ground is one of the UK’s leading shooting destinations, welcoming everyone from first-time visitors to experienced competitors. With hundreds of visitors attending the site during busy events, creating a safe, organised and professional environment is an essential part of day-to-day operations.

As part of a major redevelopment programme, which included the construction of a new clubhouse and a complete rebrand, Eaton Hall wanted to ensure the rest of the site reflected the same high standards. This meant looking beyond the buildings themselves and considering how visitors moved around the grounds, how key infrastructure performed and how the overall site experience could be improved.

Working alongside owner Amy Phillimore and her team, Alpha Manufacturing designed and manufactured a range of bespoke solutions tailored to the specific needs of the shooting ground.

One area identified for improvement was the shooting stands themselves.

Over time, a mixture of wooden and metal shooting cages had been installed across the venue, creating an inconsistent appearance. Some of the existing structures also offered limited headroom, meaning visitors often had to duck underneath them.

To address this, a new standardised cage system was designed that could be used across the shooting ground. Featuring reinforced lower frames for additional strength and stability, the new cages provide a more durable solution while their increased height creates a more comfortable experience for visitors.

As part of the redevelopment, Alpha Manufacturing also developed bespoke gun storage systems for on-site vehicles, providing a secure and practical method of transporting firearms around the venue. Designed around the specific requirements of the vehicles and the way the site operates, the systems provide a practical solution for the day-to-day movement of equipment around the grounds.

Waste management was another consideration across the site. With hundreds of visitors attending during busy events, new waste bins were introduced across the grounds to support the day-to-day running and maintenance of the busy outdoor facility.

These additions were designed with the demands of the environment in mind, with functionality, durability and ease of maintenance all critical considerations.

The wider redevelopment also included a new wayfinding and signage package, helping visitors navigate between shooting stands, facilities and event spaces. The signage was produced by HEX Graphics and aligned with Eaton Hall’s new brand identity, helping to create a consistent appearance across the wider site.

Throughout the project, durability remained a key focus. Every solution needed to withstand regular use and year-round exposure to the elements while complementing the investment Eaton Hall had already made through its wider redevelopment programme.

Amy Phillimore, Owner of Eaton Hall Shooting Ground, said:

“We were working to a tight deadline alongside the construction of our new clubhouse, so it was important to work with a partner we could trust. We could communicate exactly what we wanted, including sizes, colours and requirements, and Alpha Manufacturing turned those ideas into designs and mock-ups that we could review before manufacture.

“The process was easy, informative and well communicated throughout, which took a lot of pressure off our team.”

Today, the completed installations play an important role in the day-to-day operation of Eaton Hall Shooting Ground, supporting safe and efficient operations while providing durable, practical infrastructure across the venue.

For Alpha Manufacturing, the project demonstrates the value of bespoke manufacturing when it’s approached as a partnership. By understanding how Eaton Hall operates and designing solutions around its specific requirements, infrastructure could be delivered that not only looks the part but supports the practical needs of a busy shooting ground every day.
