Metal Folding

Metal Folding

Here at Alpha Manufacturing, we are experienced in a range of metalworking techniques such as metal folding. This is a widely-used process in the manufacturing industry and is one that is carried out with accuracy and precision using state-of-the-art technology.

What is metal folding?

Metal folding is the process that gives a metal product its shape. A machine is used to bend (or fold) the metal in order for it to reach its intended form. The benefits of using this robust and efficient machine is that it can fold small intricacies and create a variety of shapes for many day-to-day products.

How do metal folding machines work?

At Alpha Manufacturing, our automatic robotic metal folding system comes in the form of an Amada Astro 100NT, with an integrated 110-ton hydraulic brake press (also knows as a press brake). Due to its ability to work un-manned, the productivity of the Amada Astro 100NT is increased, as well as its efficiency at metal folding and profitability. There is little or no requirement for a human workforce alongside it. The robot can fold components up to a maximum weight of 18 kg and a maximum length of up to 3 m.

We also have an Amada TBZ Panel Folding Line, which is able to perform metal folding on a variety of sizes, shapes and thicknesses:

  • Maximum metal sheet size: up to 2500 mm x 1250 mm
  • Maximum metal sheet thickness: up to 2.3 mm thick

These powerful machines are capable of folding metal of all types, including:

  • Mild steel
  • Coated steel
  • Stainless steel
  • Aluminium
  • Alloys

Here at Alpha Manufacturing, we also have six standard sheet metal Amada folding machines, which we use when the sheet metal to be folded is unconventional for the other, larger folding equipment. They each can bend components up to 4100 mm in length and suit a variety of hard metals.
